Project Read Aloud Log
Your Name: Edward Almanza
(Must be typed: Add to your ePortfolio)
Partner First name: Jacqueline Almanza
Required Session #1 (5 points):
Date: 9/14/2011 Time: 5:00pm Number of minutes you read: 30 minutes
What you read: Parts of the book: Bottled & Sold by Peter H. Gleick
How did the session go for you both?
I read some parts of it with my sister to extract a topic explained in a chapter. The chapter had to do with how bottled water regulations are taken lighter than tap water regulations, FDA versus EPA. Bottlers can sell water even if it is labeled as containing excessive bacteria. I shared my views and so did she.
Required Session #2 (5 points):
Date: 9/28/2011 Time: 5:00pm Number of minutes you read: 30 minutes
What you read: Reviewed My Essay for English
How did the session go for you both?
I had two different reading partners this time. I used my essay for English as the piece of writing to review. This way he could help me out if it sounded choppy or if I needed to improve. We worked on transitions, if I sounded biased, citations, and vocabulary. Also, I read with my sister. We read parts of a book I checked out from the library. Bottled and Sold, which was a book on the controversy of bottled water. My sister and I reflected on certain points, and focused on the structure and organization of certain chapters, since we were discussing organization this week in Reading Class.
Required Session #3 (5 points):
Date:10/3/2011 Time:3:00pm Number of minutes you read:30 minutes
What you read: The Outsiders, summary
How did the session go for you both?
This reading session went well with my sister. She is really into, or obsessed, with the story behind The Outsiders. The outsiders is a story of two rival gangs, one from the rich side and one from the poor greaser side. She is really into it, and is able to tell me from beginning to end on what happens, the structure of the story, and the climax.
Required Session #4 (5 points):
Date: 10/5/2011 Time: 4:00pm Number of minutes you read:30 minutes
What you read: The Outsiders
How did the session go for you both?
She reads me some passages of the book The Outsiders. She read it to me. In the end, she summarizes the passage very well. Integrating what I read in the text book this week, we went over the organizational structure of the chapter. She does very well with this reading because she loves this book and knows it from cover to cover, almost by heart. She has also seen the movie, so she can easily visualize the scenes.
